Acupuncture

This is the use of needles into specific points in the dog's anatomy. They are mainly used for pain relief. The technique used is the anatomical approach to acupuncture. This has to be used within the laws of veterinary practise. Within the Laws of veterinary practice only a vet can inject into an animal therefore the insertion of needles by a physiotherapist is not acceptable but the philosophy is still used and adapted to acupressure, acu-tens and acu-laser which uses the acupuncture points once the physiotherapist is trained in acupuncture.

Although not used as acupuncture in the animal field Donna Is trained in completing this in the human field and uses the skills for pain control and modifying rehabilitation. the points used in acupuncture are modified in the animal field to assist with pain management.
